Sterile Processing Technician (Per Diem)

Job Summary

Prepare, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and medical equipment in the decontamination, assembly, and packing areas. Sort items by sterilization mode, inspect instruments for cleanliness and function, and assemble kits using count sheets and chemical indicators. Operate case cart systems to generate pick lists, fill carts, and deliver supplies to the operating room while maintaining proper inventory levels. Perform daily Bowie-Dick and biological testing on sterilizers, document results, and notify management of any failures. Maintain a clean work environment, follow CDC guidelines for universal precautions, and utilize computer programs such as OR Manager and Meditech to complete assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Prior sterile processing experience in hospital setting
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • Possess excellent customer service skills
  • Varying shifts at least 4 shifts in a 4 week period
  • High School diploma
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year Central Services and Supplies, or related experience
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation
  • Case cart assembly
  • Aseptic technique

Desired Qualifications

  • Certification
  • High School diploma preferred
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year Central Services and Supplies, or related experience preferred
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, case cart assembly and aseptic technique preferred
