Sterile Processing Technician - OLGMC - full time

Job Summary

Perform general and specialized instrument care duties, including receiving, cleaning, distributing, and storing medical instruments and equipment. Disassemble and clean critical reusable medical equipment per Manufacturer's Instructions for Use, then inspect, package, and reassemble surgical instruments and trays. Execute high-level disinfection and sterilization techniques using pre-vacuum, gravity displacement, and hydrogen peroxide plasma methods. Provide supplies for surgical procedures and support direct patient care in clinical and satellite operations. Maintain accurate records and document control in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory recommendations. Adapt behavior to specific patient populations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
  • Ability to travel throughout and between facilities
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
  • Occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases
  • Occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment

Desired Qualifications

  • 2 years of sterile processing experience or graduation from accepted course in sterile processing or surgical technology
  • Certification through one of the following: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), International Association Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM), Certified Sterile Processing Department Technican (CSPDT), Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution(CBSPD), Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER), CBSPD
  • Clinical knowledge
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate pertinent information to patients or appropriate staff in a timely manner
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Conflict resolution skills and ability to demonstrate good judgement in performing duties
  • Ability to adapt to change in a positive, constructive manner
