Sterile Processing Technician I

Job Summary

Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable medical devices and surgical instrumentation. Operate washers, sterilizers, and related technologies while maintaining inventory of sterile supplies and processing consumables. Transport instruments and equipment to support procedural and patient care areas, utilizing tracking systems to document activities and ensure traceability. Identify items requiring repair or replacement and communicate equipment malfunctions, quality issues, and safety risks to appropriate personnel. Comply with regulatory, accreditation, infection prevention, and departmental standards while participating in training and continuous improvement activities. Work onsite at 2014 Washington Street in an evening shift with 40 weekly hours.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1-2 years experience as a Central Sterile Technician or similar role in a healthcare setting
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician [CRCST]
  • C.S.P.D.T - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician
  • Working knowledge of sterile processing principles, instrumentation, sterilization methods, and infection prevention standards
  • Proficiency in instrument assembly, packaging, sterilization, and equipment handling
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Understanding of workflow prioritization and departmental operations in a healthcare environment
  • Must be able to lift 35lbs+
