Job Summary
Sterile Processing Technician – Evenings at Mayo Clinic. Responsible for decontamination, assembly, inspection, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable instruments and equipment for surgical and other procedures; cleaning and re-processing of reusable surgical equipment per manufacturer guidelines; maintaining inventory and assisting the sterile core to support the operating room team. Requires a High school diploma or GED and, within one year of hire, Central Service Technician certification; preferred one year of instrumentation experience in a hospital setting or completion of a Central Service vocational program; strong communication and interpersonal skills; on-call with a 45-minute report time and location-based driving distance requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- A minimum of one year of instrumentation experience OR successful completion of a vocational program for Central Service with full (not provisional) Central Service Technician certification
- Successful completion of a vocational program for Central Service is preferred
- One year of instrumentation experience in a hospital setting preferred
- Central Service Technician certification is required within one year of hire
