Job Summary
Facilitates decontamination, cleaning, assembling and sterilization of reusable instrumentation. Monitors and reports on compliance with sterilization guidelines and mandatory processes. Expedites the delivery of needed supplies, maintains adequate levels of supplies and equipment to ensure operations are not adversely affected. Performs decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging of medical/surgical materials including linen, instruments and equipment; operates sterilization equipment. Prepares trays, disassembles/assembles/tests instrumentation, coordinates distribution of supplies and equipment, maintains inventory, handles cycle counts and annual inventory, and assists with restocking and delivery to support surgical team needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required
- Minimum one year experience working as sterile processing technician
- Current certification preferred
- Experience working in an ambulatory center preferred but not required
