Job Summary
Receives, cleans, decontaminates, packages, labels, and sterilizes instruments, supplies, and equipment. Stocks and replenishes supplies, notifies department heads for new items, and maintains work areas in a clean, organized manner. Cleans sterilizers, carts, tables, and other equipment daily while documenting cleaning, sterilization, and biological quality control processes per department and AORN standards. Operates sterilizing equipment, participates in continuing education, and assists in unit-based quality monitoring. Full-time evening shifts (3 p.m.–11:30 p.m.) with call rotation. Base pay ranges from $19.29 to $29.46 hourly.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions to assemble instrument sets and trays
- Ability to learn and understand medical terminology
- Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing
- Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and sterile/aseptic technique
- Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs
- Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills
- Attention to detail and ability to write legibly
- Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed
- On call responsibilities as directed
Desired Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in a hospital Sterile Reprocessing Department
- Sterile Processing Tech certification
