Job Summary

Prepare, assemble, clean, and sterilize all instrumentation and equipment used in medical exams and surgeries. Perform decontamination practices based on manufacturer instructions, operate sterilization methods including steam and Sterrad, and conduct biological testing procedures. Demonstrate proper knowledge of cleaning agents, identify instruments and sets, and maintain accurate record-keeping for decontamination and sterilization. Re-stock shelves to maintain defined par levels of supplies and instrument trays while keeping the work area clean and safe. Communicate equipment or process problems immediately to leadership and comply with all hospital policies and safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician - HSPA
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to pull up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to push up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to reach overhead up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to reach forward up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to carry frequently 3-5 hours
  • Must be able to handle frequently 3-5 hours
  • Must be able to grasp fine motor frequently 3-5 hours
  • Must be able to grasp gross hand frequently 3-5 hours
  • Must be able to stand frequently 3-5 hours
  • Must be able to work with infectious diseases frequently 3-5 hours
  • Must be able to work with needle sticks frequently 3-5 hours
  • Must be able to work with risk of exposure to blood and body fluids frequently 3-5 hours
  • Must be able to work with wet and/or humid conditions frequently 3-5 hours
  • Must be able to work with chemicals occasionally 1-3 hours
  • Must be able to work with hazardous drugs occasionally 1-3 hours
  • Must be able to work with infectious diseases frequently 3-5 hours
  • Must be able to work with needle sticks frequently 3-5 hours
  • Must be able to work with risk of exposure to blood and body fluids frequently 3-5 hours
  • Must be able to work with wet and/or humid conditions frequently 3-5 hours

  • Must comply with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health
  • Must adhere to break and attendance schedules agreed upon with supervisor
  • Must abide by Stormont Vail's Remote Worker Policy and will review and acknowledge the Remote Work Agreement annually
  • Must have stable access to electricity and a minimum of 25mb upload and internet speed
  • Must dedicate full attention to the job duties and communication with others during working hours
  • Must work as part of a team
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must be adaptable to change
  • Must maintain a clean, professional and safe work area
  • Must perform work accurately and efficiently to avoid re-work and errors
  • Must communicate process or equipment problems immediately to appropriate leadership

Desired Qualifications

  • Preferred experience in surgery environment
  • Preferred sterile processing experience
