Job Summary
Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment while maintaining compliance with infection prevention and quality standards. Operate sterilization equipment and instrument tracking systems to manage inventory and coordinate the availability of critical supplies. Identify damaged instruments to ensure proper functionality before distribution and support surgical teams by delivering accurate instruments on time. Utilize electronic medical records, handheld devices, and Microsoft Office applications to track instruments and manage inventory throughout the health system. Work evening shifts from 2:30 pm to 11 pm in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, lifting up to 25 pounds and pushing up to 75 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year of Sterile Processing experience in an acute care hospital, ambulatory surgery center, or healthcare setting
- Demonstrated knowledge of decontamination, sterilization methods, surgical instrumentation, and infection prevention practices
- Ability to understand and follow detailed technical instructions related to surgical instrumentation and equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification through HSPA, or ability to obtain within established timeframe
- Two or more years of Sterile Processing experience
- Experience with instrument tracking systems and surgical instrument inventory management
- Experience processing complex surgical instrument sets across multiple specialties
