Job Summary
Supervise the Sterile Processing Program by planning, coordinating, and administering cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of instruments for all Operating Room procedures. Manage caregiver performance through reviews, development planning, coaching, and corrective actions, while maintaining current competency checks and compliance with safety directives. Provide technical knowledge by performing daily audits on legal documentation, interviewing and hiring staff, and resolving instrument tracking system issues. Coordinate schedules to maintain core staffing and support clinical practice changes and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Current certification in Sterile Processing required (CRCST or CBSPD)
- 4+ years of experience as a sterile processing technician
- Advanced level instrument experience
- Ability to deal with high stress associated with high-volume critical care departments, physicians, clinical, and support staff
- Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely
- Continually (75% or more): Standing, walking, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 1-10 pounds, grasping/squeezing, Use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level
- Frequently (50%): Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, reaching overhead, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 11-25 pounds
- Occasionally (25%): Climbing ladder/step stool, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 25-50 pounds, Ability to hear whispered speech level
- Rarely (10%): Sitting, climbing stairs, keyboard Operation, operation of motor vehicle
