Job Summary

Part-time casual Stereotyper responsible for coordinating and processing plate products per production schedule, operating plateroom equipment daily, and collaborating across departments and with external print customers. After training, develop in-depth knowledge of all plateroom equipment. Availability for night and weekend shifts to meet production needs; onsite at the Queens printing facility. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining plate room equipment (plate processors, hand jacks, file transmission systems, plate lines, benders), enforcing safety and SOPs, coordinating with team members, following production schedules to ensure timely newspaper editions, and lifting up to 50 pounds while standing 8-10 hours per shift. Basic qualifications require 3+ years in production/warehouse in newspaper production or offset printing and a high school diploma or equivalent; preferred qualifications include prior newspaper production/offset printing experience and familiarity with plateroom equipment. This is a union role represented by the New York Stereotypers #1.
