Job Summary
Stephens 1st Grade Teacher at Stephens Elementary School. The role involves planning instruction to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth; formatively assessing student progress and adjusting methods; aligning lessons to curriculum goals; using varied instructional techniques and media; implementing innovative, research-based strategies; collaborating with center staff and parents; maintaining classroom records and equipment inventories; ensuring a safe, equitable learning environment; and participating in district-sponsored staff development. Requires a Bachelor's degree and Arkansas K-6 (or ECE P-4) teaching license, with a 9.25-month exempt contract and a salary placement determined by district guidelines. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree minimum (some graduate work preferred)
- Arkansas Teacher’s license for Elementary Education K-6 or ECE P-4
- Competence in the total teaching act
- Ability to apply current educational theory and practice; cultural, socioeconomic, ethnic, and gender differences; and the principles of child growth and development when working with students, parents, administrators, community members, and support staff
- Willingness to participate in on-going staff development, the ability to teach differences and sensitivity to cultural differences
- Commitment to staff development and to apply new techniques in the classroom
- Ability and willingness to construct hands-on education materials to be utilized in the teaching of identified curriculum skills and concepts
