Job Summary
Plan, prepare, and deliver rigorous, project-based STEM lessons for grades 5-8 while utilizing technology to maximize student engagement. Lead students in developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills through hands-on instruction, employing varied assessment tools to track progress toward college and career goals. Counsel students as an Advisor, communicate regularly with families and colleagues regarding student needs, and leverage community partnerships to address learning barriers. Promote high expectations and professional growth within a collaborative team environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field
- NC Professional Educator's License
- Eligible to obtain license within 3 years
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher
- Minimum of three years experience as a middle or high school teacher
- Strong academic foundation with the ability to integrate STEM across content areas
- Understanding of the emotional and social development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences on student success
- Familiarity with current trends and leading innovations in education
- Ability to work effectively in a collegial, team-centered environment
- Intrinsically motivated and dedicated to continuous professional and personal growth
- Ability to effectively engage parents and community in the learning process
- Represents the school positively in the community
- Excellent organizational skills and communication skills, both written and oral
- Understands the critical nature of building positive working relationships with students, parents and colleagues
- Effective in integrating technology into the classroom to enhance learning
- Possess a deep commitment to serve the needs of students and families who are first generation college goers and those typically underrepresented in postsecondary education and STEM fields
