Job Summary
Design and implement STEM lesson plans covering Math, Robotics, Science, Coding, Technology, and Engineering across New York Edge program sites. Teach or co-lead daily activities while preparing materials and explaining safety procedures to student participants. Establish clear objectives for lessons and projects, then adapt instructional methods to meet individual student needs. Administer pre and post-assessments, input data for reports, and support coordination of program events. Build strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and school personnel while participating in ongoing professional development. This part-time role requires in-person attendance Monday through Friday from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with shifts varying by site needs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be knowledgeable and skilled in a variety of STEM activities
- Must have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth
- Must have excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff, school personnel, parents
- Must be sensitive to social-emotional needs and characteristics of students
- Must be a self-starter who takes initiative
- Must be flexible, reliable, and have sound judgment
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs
- Must be able to lift or move objects/materials as needed
- Must be able to work mostly within a New York City Public School
- Must be able to interact with community-at-large during trips or events
- Must be able to report to the school building and interact with staff, students, parents, and school administration
- Must obtain safety and security clearances through the Department of Education and the Department of Health
Desired Qualifications
- College credits in computer programming, engineering, education, math, science and/or similar related degrees
- Experience working with children
