Job Summary
Navantia UK seeks a Steelworker to perform manual and machine steel fabrication and assembly of components, units, blocks, and ship structures across naval, marine, and repair sectors. Duties include reading fabrication drawings, set-out, cutting and fabricating structural steel (plate & profile), erecting and aligning steel parts in Shops or Dock environments, operating fabrication machinery and shop cranes, hand burning with oxyfuel, and contributing to safety, quality procedures, and teamwork. Requires demonstrable experience in heavy steel plate fabrication, understanding of engineering drawings and fabrication standards, basic welding knowledge with tack weld capability, and the ability to follow valid instructions and work independently or with the team; willingness to work overtime and obtain BPSS security clearance during onboarding.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience of heavy steel plate fabrication process (preferably have served a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent)
- Understanding of Engineering drawings and technical documents
- Understanding of Quality procedures and Fabrication Standards
- Basic knowledge of welding processes and ability to tack weld
- Ability to pass a trade test
- Knowledge of fabrication workplace Safety requirements and good working practices
- Flexible cooperation with other team-members
- Ability to work overtime as required
