Job Summary
Steel Fixer to place, fix, and tie reinforcing steel (reo) to structural drawings and engineering specifications to support the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project. Responsibilities include reading drawings and bar bending schedules, cutting/bending/tieing reo to required shapes and sizes, placing and securing reinforcement for concrete foundations, footings, slabs and structural elements, installing reinforcement systems (mesh, couplers), ensuring correct positioning/spacing/cover/alignment prior to pours, and coordinating with formwork carpenters, concreters, supervisors and engineers to meet project requirements while maintaining safety and quality standards. The role operates on a 14 days on / 7 days off roster on a remote project site with bus transport from Sydney; DIDO arrangements may apply for residents outside the NSW route. Indigenous Australians and candidates from minority groups are encouraged to apply.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Steel Fixer on civil, infrastructure, or major construction projects
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and bar bending schedules
- Competent in tying reo using correct techniques and tools
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices
- Construction white card
