Job Summary
Position, align and fit structural metal or steel; determine material requirements and task sequences using shop drawings; mark reference points on workpieces with measuring devices, squares, chalk, or soapstone; lift or move steel materials into position using overhead cranes; regular use of jigs, welding torches, and hand tools. The role emphasizes hands-on fabrication and assembly of structural steel components, adherence to safety footwear requirements, and proximity to Ocean Steel’s Saint John, NB operations within the OSCO Construction Group.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of pre-employment college program or equivalent experience
- Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification (Block 1)
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in structural steel fabricating
- CSA approved steel toe boots
