Job Summary
Steel Drafter/Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for structural and miscellaneous steel projects. Responsibilities include detailed quantity take-offs using Bluebeam Revu, Togal.AI, and On-Screen Takeoff; interpreting drawings/specifications; developing comprehensive estimates for fabrication and erection; soliciting subcontractor and supplier quotes; maintaining bid schedules; assisting with project scheduling; identifying cost-saving and value engineering opportunities; and maintaining organized bid documentation. Collaboration with project managers, suppliers, fabricators, and clients is essential, with emphasis on analytical skills, steel fabrication knowledge, and proficiency in digital takeoff tools.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Steel Drafter/Estimator in structural and/or miscellaneous steel
- Advanced proficiency with Bluebeam Revu, Togal.AI, and On-Screen Takeoff
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and steel detailing
- Ability to produce accurate quantity take-offs and cost projections
- Experience with project scheduling and timeline development
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to read and identify steel components directly from drawings
- Proficiency in Excel for bill of materials creation and estimate tracking
- Local travel required; participation in company vehicle program (day to day usage) available
- Strong communication skills and comfort using new technologies and digital tools
