Job Summary
Create detailed shop drawings for manufacturing structural steel and miscellaneous metals, and produce erection plans for field assembly. Review contract documents, architectural, and structural drawings to generate piece details and framing plans, while providing material lists including shop bolts, field bolts, and mill orders. Assist Project Managers in interpreting shop and field drawings to ensure compliance with AISC standards and company detailing practices. Maintain current knowledge of AISC regulations, connection design, and steel member dimensions. This role supports the Johnston, RI office of a full-service specialty contractor that designs, fabricates, and erects structures across the Northeast and nationally.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products
- Strong communication skills
- Maintain a current working knowledge of AISC regulations, connection design, detailing practices, and steel member dimensions and properties
- Maintain knowledge of company detailing and connection standards
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with bridge projects or bridge steel detailing is a plus
- Experience in structural steel or construction detailing is strongly preferred
