Job Summary
Assist licensed teachers and administrators in developing instructional programs by working with students individually or in small groups. Prepare instruction materials, maintain classroom discipline, and conduct planned activities using designated methods. Provide additional supervision to students in classrooms, playgrounds, lunchrooms, and hallways while reinforcing educational programs and monitoring IEP goals. Support students with physical care, health needs, and safety protocols, including adherence to OSHA regulations and communicable disease control plans. Maintain data on student performance and progress. Participate in ongoing training for CPI, lifting/transfer, and First Aid/CPR. This safety-sensitive role requires physical ability to handle hazardous chemicals and frequent hand washing. Work 178 days a year for 7.5 hours daily. Preference given to candidates with experience in specific disabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Must be highly qualified
- Two years of study at an institution of higher education with the ability to provide transcripts showing 48 completed semester credits or 72 completed quarter credits
- Associate's (or higher) degree
- Passing score on the Praxis exam
- Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations
- Work within the district's communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens)
- Awareness of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the MSDS sheets
- Must be certified to drive a Type 20 Activity Vehicle
- Must uphold the moral character as required of teachers
- Must maintain confidentiality when associated with the Klamath County School District
- Ability to learn and follow medical policy and procedures in a timely manner
- Must be willing to participate in ongoing training
- Regular attendance
- Ability to become certified and proficient in District adopted CPI – Crisis Prevention Institute
- Must possess the ability to endure hand washing several times each hour
