Job Summary
Provide basic first aid and routine health support to students under the direction of the school nurse, including administering prescribed medications and assisting with daily medical needs. Monitor students with chronic health conditions, observe for signs of illness or injury, and report concerns promptly. Maintain accurate health records, medication logs, and incident documentation while ensuring medical equipment and supplies are clean, organized, and adequately stocked. Support students with personal care needs such as toileting, feeding, and hygiene, and assist with safe transfers when required. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, therapists, and families to support students' health and educational needs while following strict infection prevention protocols. This safety-sensitive position requires an Associate's degree or passing Praxis score and involves 178 days per year, 7.5 hours daily, with a salary range of $19.36–$21.79 hourly.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of study at an institution of higher education with the ability to provide transcripts showing 48 completed semester credits or 72 completed quarter credits
- Associate's (or higher) degree
- Passing score on the Praxis exam
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Ability to follow established procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous materials
- Physical ability to perform job-related tasks
- Compliance with OSHA regulations
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards
- Knowledge of bloodborne pathogen protocols
- Adherence to all applicable workplace safety requirements
- Maintenance of student safety
- Protection of confidential health information
- Support of a safe clinical environment
