Job Summary
Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain a federal facility in Laurel, MD, including the building automation system and related plant equipment. Responsibilities include tours of areas/equipment, performing service calls, diagnostics, repairs, preventive maintenance per NVE standards and manufacturer recommendations, and repairs to plumbing fixtures. Requires experience with large chillers (≥500 tons) and boilers (≥125 boiler-horsepower), licenses such as MD 1st Class or DC 3rd Class, EPA Universal CFC license (desirable), ability to obtain government background investigation, and familiarity with reading blueprints and Building Automation Systems. Must be a US citizen and capable of handling on-site maintenance tasks at a federal facility.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience within the last eight (8) years in the operation of chillers rated at least 500 tons and Boilers 125 boiler-horsepower gas-fired boilers
- Experience in industrial, laboratory, construction, or commercial building environments
- First (1st) Class Engineer License or comparable license is required
- Licensing, certifications, and proof of training to substantiate experience will be required as part of the application process for: Licensed Stationary Operating Engineer MD 1st or DC 3rd Class License
- EPA Universal CFC License desirable
- Factory Training for different boiler/chiller systems desirable
- US Citizens and ability to obtain and maintain a government background investigation; existing background investigation (HSPD-12) desirable
- Ability to read Architectural and Manufacturing blueprints; basic office equipment proficiency
- Functional knowledge of Building Automation Systems and monitoring controls
