Static Stress Engineer (Contract)

Job Summary

Perform static stress and strength analyses on metallic and non-metallic parts to justify repair solutions for aircraft structures, balancing time, cost, and quality. Execute hand calculations and computer techniques to develop certified engineering repair solutions that satisfy airworthiness requirements for airlines and MROs. Collaborate with design and fatigue colleagues to optimize structural sizing, documentation, and certification activities for in-service fleet support. Liaise with internal departments to ensure methods and assumptions align with ongoing developments, while managing routine repair queries and local improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials
  • 0 - 6 years analysis experience in airframe design/repair programs
  • Authorized to work in the US without current, or future, need of visa sponsorship
  • In-depth knowledge of classical and numerical (Finite Element) stress analysis methods
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency with G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
  • Must be able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs; once a month
  • Must be able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs; once a month
  • Must be able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools; once a month
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer; daily
  • Must be able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving
  • Must be able to stand for discussions in offices; daily
  • Ability to work in the US without current, or future, need of visa sponsorship/work authorization

Desired Qualifications

  • Exposure to airframe design, stress analysis, composites, MRB, FAR/JAR/CS/Part 21, Certification, CATIA, NASTRAN, PATRAN and HYPERWORKS
  • A Master's Degree in Engineering
  • MRO/Fleet Engineering experience
  • Proficiency with coding in Python
  • Conversational French and/or German
