Job Summary
Full-time Victim Advocate position in the Addison County State’s Attorney’s Office (Middlebury, VT) requiring travel within county/state. Responsibilities include providing information and guidance to crime victims, helping them navigate the criminal justice system, ensuring fair treatment, informing victims about case status, and assisting with events such as depositions, arraignments, conferences, jury draw, trials, and sentencing hearings. The role supports victims by explaining support services and restitution/compensation processes, managing a high-volume caseload, maintaining confidentiality, and collaborating with law enforcement, courts, and community supports. Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and at least one year of relevant experience; strong typing, Office 365 skills, writing and verbal communication, and ability to work under pressure in emotionally charged environments. Travel and professional interactions are required; the position offers state benefits and a salary range of $29.15 to $45.58 hourly depending on experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- One year of work experience at or above a technical support level in counseling, social work, legal work, human services program delivery, criminal justice, paralegal work, or other related, relevant discipline.
- Proficiency in typing and Office 365; excellent writing and verbal presentation skills.
- Must pass Vermont State Tax compliance; may require background check.
