Job Summary
State Eligibility Consultant within the Central Integrity Review Team (CIRT) at the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, responsible for processing and reviewing SNAP, Medicaid and TANF eligibility determinations, updating case information, correcting data, and authorizing benefits. Performs eligibility interviews, reviews contract-staff work, ensures compliance with state and federal rules, identifies data inconsistencies, and contributes to peer coaching and process improvements. Requires willingness to travel, strong knowledge of public assistance policies and regulations, experience with eligibility systems, and effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications
- Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation.
- Thorough knowledge of public assistance policy, practices, and procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations related to public assistance programs.
- Working knowledge of computerized eligibility systems.
- Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to use tact and empathy in dealing with people from varied backgrounds.
- Ability to use discretion in dealing with all clients, and fellow employees’ personal information.
- Demonstrates effective interview and communication skills.
- Ability to be flexible and self-motivated in managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
