Job Summary
Conduct Arizona DPS-approved 8-hour unarmed security guard training, covering criminal law, use of force, ethics, and emergency procedures while maintaining a safe, professional learning environment. Evaluate student participation and comprehension, then complete and sign official training verification forms for qualified applicants. Maintain accurate attendance, training, and certification records, staying current with Arizona DPS regulations and legislative updates. Coordinate with agency management regarding instructor authorization and compliance. Requires current Arizona DPS General Security Guard Instructor Certification, minimum 21 years of age, and U.S. citizenship or legal resident status. Schedule includes Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with occasional Saturdays.
Required Qualifications
- Current Arizona DPS General Security Guard Instructor Certification
- Minimum 21 years of age
- U.S. citizen or legal resident authorized to work in the United States
- Meet all eligibility requirements established under Arizona law, including criminal history standards and other instructor qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Arizona security guard laws and regulations
- Excellent verbal communication and classroom presentation skills
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records
- Proficient with classroom technology and training materials
- Thorough understanding of Arizona security laws and DPS licensing requirements
- Effective classroom management
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to explain legal concepts clearly and accurately
- Professional appearance and ethical conduct
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Monday - Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM; Occasional Saturdays
- Stand and instruct for extended periods
- Lift training equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds
- Travel to training locations as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in private security, law enforcement, military, or corrections
- Experience teaching adult learners
- CPR, First Aid, or emergency response certifications
