START Family Peer Supporter

Job Summary
Participate as an active member of the Ohio START team, working jointly with case workers and providers to ensure seamless delivery of intensive wrap-around services to START families while assisting with child safety. Lead initial meetings, weekly status meetings, and Family Team Meetings to review progress, empowering families to take ownership of their long-term successes and self-advocacy. Connect families to community resources, teach skills for navigating the child welfare system, and coordinate crisis interventions and stabilization. Provide input on court forms, case plans, and child safety strategies while identifying barriers to community participation and developing strategies to overcome them. Requires a GED, minimum three years of quality recovery from substance use disorder, lived experience with child welfare, and ability to operate in electronic health records. Located in Fayette County, OH, with full benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401K match, and EAP support.
Required Qualifications
- Have earned a minimum education level of GED
- Lived experience with child welfare servicers as a parent or child
- Minimum 3 years quality recovery from Substance Use Disorder
- Familiarity of community health & human service systems
- Able to effectively communicate through verbal/written expression
- Can effectively operate in an Internet-based, electronic health record (EHR) and other data environments
- Demonstrate long term recovery (at least 2 years is required, three years is preferred) from a SUD
- Demonstrate no ongoing criminal activity
- Have lived experience with the child welfare system either as a parent or child, with the case closed at least one year or if do not have direct CPS experience, be able to describe how your substance use affected your children and family
- Maintain a current driver's license

- Experience working with resources in Jackson County preferred
