Characterize available 3D printing types and evaluate functional requirements against technical, economic, and logistical criteria including precision, durability, lead time, cost, and material. Define and formalize a decision matrix to guide setting selection between 3D printing and conventional manufacturing during the design phase. Test this matrix on concrete cases, adjust it with cross-functional stakeholders, and support its integration into departmental practices and reference systems.
