Job Summary
Conduct technical analyses and improvements for automation operations by performing feasibility studies, developing test plans, and executing production solutions. Diagnose faulty systems, troubleshoot hardware or software issues, and manage one-off incidents while drafting technical reports and updating project documentation. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to implement continuous improvement solutions, coordinate user training, and promote safety, ethics, and quality pillars. This internship supports the manufacturing of next-generation aircraft engines at Pratt & Whitney Canada's Longueuil facility, requiring strong French communication skills and basic robotics knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Enrolled in a Canadian university throughout the internship
- Able to work on-site in the province where hired
- Good knowledge of basic concepts of industrial robots
- Good knowledge of basic PLC and HMI programming
- Pursue studies in Automated Production Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering or a related field
- Excellent communication skills in French (spoken/written)
- Strong interpersonal skills (customer service)
- Team spirit
- Autonomous (self-taught and able to work with minimal direction)
- Analytical problem-solving skills
- Natural curiosity and thirst for learning
- Working knowledge of English to read and understand specialized instructions, plans, drawings and technical terms
- Working knowledge of English to write and sometimes communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to work under pressure
- Knowledge of industrial robots (e.g. Fanuc, ABB & UR)
- Good knowledge of FANUC (TPP, Karel) and ABB (Rapid) programming languages
- Knowledge of Roboguide robotic simulation software
- Experience with safety issues surrounding automated and robotic systems
- Knowledge of vision and traceability systems (iRVision, Cognex, Keyence)
- Knowledge of CAD and reading mechanical drawings
- Good knowledge of PLCs (AB, Siemens)
- Knowledge of Ladder, VBScript, C, C# and SQL programming languages
- Experience in interface design (HMI)
