Job Summary
Support students in achieving academic, social, and emotional goals by implementing individualized lesson plans and assisting with activities of daily living such as hygiene and transitions. Collaborate with teachers to execute positive behavior initiatives and help students complete assigned work while maintaining on-task behavior. Collect data on student progress and build strong relationships with students and their educators. Ensure all interactions adhere to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries while supporting the use of adaptive technology. Maintain physical readiness for frequent lifting, prolonged standing, and emergency response in a variety of environments, including exposure to allergens and bodily fluids.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate, GED or equivalent of education
- Applicable pre-service training
- High school diploma, or GED plus 20 college credits
- Pre-service training (optional)
- Background checks as stipulated by local and/or state requirements
- Child abuse clearance
- Criminal history report
- First aid and/or CPR certification as stipulated by local and/or state requirements
- Registration or Certification as required by state requirements
- Ongoing continuing education hours as stipulated by local and/or state requirements
- TB testing as stipulated by local and/or state requirements
- Ability to adhere to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries
- Ability to support student(s) in using technology and adaptive devices
- Attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English
- Ability to travel to/from school/work location
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, reach, twist
- Ability to sit and climb stairs
- Visual and hearing acuity
- Strong sense of smell and touch
- Sufficient strength and manual dexterity to safely operate equipment
- Ability to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as needed
- Ability to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions
- Exposure to blood, bodily fluids and infectious diseases
