Job Summary
Staff Veterinarian to deliver high-quality medical care and humane treatment for animals in a shelter, including medical evaluations, surgeries (spay/neuter), emergency care, diagnostic testing, and ongoing treatment plans. Collaborate with a veterinary team to support a shelter medical program, maintain accurate medical records, supervise staff, participate in community vaccination clinics, and ensure compliance with the California Veterinary Medical Board and state laws. May assist with after-hours emergencies and euthanasia as needed; opportunity to contribute to animal welfare, public health, and educational outreach.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience preferred
- Experience working in a fast-paced veterinary or clinical environment
- Shelter medicine experience is highly desirable but not required
- Must be able to pass a background check upon hire
- Part-time candidates must be available at least 2 weekdays per week (Monday–Friday)
