Staff Veterinarian

Staff Veterinarian role focused on providing high-level veterinary care for owned and shelter animals across KHS programs (including Sam Swope Pet TLC, CARE-a-van, and SNIP Clinic). Responsible for medical/surgical procedures, sterilizations, vaccinations, dental care, heartworm treatments, and general exam/treatment to ensure treatment and recovery for all animals. Involves management of adoption operations, overseeing staff scheduling, training, budgets and SOPs related to adoptions, ensuring the Open Adoptions philosophy, and coordinating with leadership to meet organizational goals. Must possess general to intermediate dog/cat knowledge, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to handle the emotional aspects of end-of-life care and humane euthanasia. Location varies by program with on-site commitments in Louisville, KY, and willingness to drive/KHS vehicle as needed. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to work a schedule including one weekend day; background check required.
