Staff UX Software Engineer

Job Summary
Develop deep understanding of Sonatype's multi-product developer platform and map complex IA, developer workflows, and permissions models into clear, intuitive experience patterns. Co-create user flows and direction with PMs and engineers using Miro diagrams that reflect real technical constraints, then build coded UX prototypes in React, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript using AI tools to generate engineering specs directly from code diffs. Conduct lightweight, practical research when needed to validate concepts while maintaining momentum. Facilitate iterative design sessions, provide structured UX reviews across product teams, and coach engineers on usability and accessibility to raise the UX baseline. Contribute high-fidelity prototypes that solve customer problems within existing design systems and evolve AI-accelerated workflows to strengthen design alignment.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience designing enterprise software or developer platforms (typically 10–15+ years)
- Experience collaborating deeply with engineers
- Hybrid UX/engineering backgrounds
- HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- React familiarity
- GitHub, version control
- IDE + AI code editor pairings
- Fluency in English - verbal and written communications
