Job Summary
Lead and oversee engineering responsibilities for high voltage overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structure analysis, sag-tension calculations, and wire selection. Prepare construction specifications, hardware selections, and cost estimates while developing design criteria and clearance reports. Provide instruction and guidance to less experienced staff members and supervise field installation activities. This Staff Transmission Engineer supports the California region's Transmission & Distribution practice, focusing on projects for clients across the 69kV to 500kV range. The role emphasizes technical leadership, quality reviews, and serving as the primary interface between internal engineers and clients.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from accredited program
- Minimum 3 years of related experience with routing and design of high voltage overhead transmission line facilities
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- A professional certification, EIT, and/or a professional engineer licensure
- Experience in 69kV to 500kV line design
- Working knowledge and/or expertise in Power Line system-based programs (i.e., PLS, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, etc.)
- Completion of master's degree in related field (may be substituted for one year of experience)
