Job Summary
Staff Thermal Process & Furnace Engineer responsible for leading end-to-end deployment, commissioning, and verification of complex furnace systems (vacuum, batch, inert-atmosphere) and serving as the technical authority for thermal processing. Own IQ/OQ protocols, temperature uniformity surveys, and system validation; develop DOEs to optimize heating/cooling ramp rates, gas flows, and soak times; drive KPIs (OEE, MTBF, Thermal Yield); collaborate with Quality, Product Development, Operations, and Maintenance; interface with external equipment manufacturers and automation integrators; contribute to SOPs and engineering hiring strategies; sphere of work includes high-temperature thermal recipes for AM-related post-processing and SCADA/PLC/HMI configurations. Qualifications include 8+ years in related fields, IQ/OQ, pyrometry, AMS 2750/CQI-9/NADCAP familiarity, DOE/SPC tooling (Minitab/JMP), and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant engineering disciplines. The annual base salary range is $124,000 to $171,000, with comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive engineering experience in high-precision thermal systems integration, vacuum furnace operations, pyrometry calibration, or industrial heat-treating initiatives
- Formal IQ/OQ protocol execution
- Thermal mapping and leak testing experience
- Strong knowledge of AMS 2750, CQI-9, NADCAP or related validation frameworks
- DOE design of experiments and SPC data analysis using Minitab, JMP, or equivalent
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills for conveying complex thermal data to management
