Job Summary
Conduct psychological assessments and provide individual, couples, and group therapy to the Claremont Colleges student population while managing a caseload of up to 25 clients weekly. Deliver crisis intervention through the MCAPS on-call rotation, including assessments and appointments, and serve as a liaison between counseling services and campus community centers for consultations and workshops. Lead trainings, outreach, and programming addressing the unique mental health needs of diverse cultural, linguistic, and immigration backgrounds, with a priority focus on Asian and Asian American students. Compose clinical intake, progress, and termination reports, and provide supervision to post-doctoral fellows.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed in the state of California
- LMFT/LCSW degree or doctoral degree (Ph.D./Psy.D.) in clinical or counseling psychology
- 2 years experience working in a College Counseling Center
- Experience and interest/specialty in providing psychotherapy, group therapy, outreach, and support to the Asian /Asian-American / Pacific Islander college community
- Demonstrated experience and deep clinical understanding of the mental health needs, cultural nuances, and systemic challenges faced by Asian and Asian American populations
- Experience in providing clinical diagnosis and therapy
- Experience in working clinically with college students or college-age clients and working with crisis situations including hospitalizations, suicidality, psychosis, Eating Disorders, academic management, working in a high-demand environment
- Experience in assessment, diagnosis, and implementation of interventions for depression, anxiety, alcohol/drugs abuse, and developmental concerns frequently faced by college-age students(18-25 years old)
- Demonstrated ability to manage the fluctuation of clinical caseload and maintain appropriate records in a timely manner
- Sensitivity to and embracement of individuals that represent cultural, religious, ethnic and lifestyle diversity
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as a team member within the Wellness Center and throughout The Claremont Colleges community
- Understanding of and/or experiences in residential, liberal arts college environment
- Ability to work within a culturally diverse population while being aware of issues of difference, diversity, and social justice
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work with an Electronic Health Records System for Client notes and scheduling
- May be required to work holiday, weekend, and/or evening hours
- This department has an adjusted holiday schedule in which certain holidays are worked due to students being on campus
