Staff Talent Development Manager

Job Summary

Analyze the firm's learning and development needs to accelerate objectives, then collaborate with departments to define learning objectives and design content that meets those goals. Identify competency gaps through assessment tools and facilitate required training sessions, including scheduling compliance trainings and interviewing potential trainers. Review existing programs to suggest enhancements and coordinate with vendors for outside training, while soliciting feedback and reporting analytics for continual improvement. Manage the training budget, prepare performance management tools, and provide leadership coaching to people managers and staff. Conduct exit interviews to summarize trends and recommend coaching, compile data for budget submissions, and draft HR policies based on legal and market research.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, organizational development, business administration, or related field
  • Minimum seven years of progressively responsible human resources experience
  • Experience designing and implementing employee training and development programs
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, human resources principles and practices
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office software Suite with strong Excel skills
  • Working knowledge of Frontpage SharePoint or other web design program
  • Internet research skills
  • HRIS and database software proficiency
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office meeting platforms such as Teams and Zoom
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively communicate needs to HR leadership and HR team
  • Ability to communicate HR implications to firm management and influence decisions
  • Ability to readily comprehend business objectives and correspondingly develop and execute appropriate strategies
  • Ability to be a proactive self-starter who understands the details within a much larger context
  • Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks
  • High level of discretion, diplomacy, and a commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality
  • The role is based in the Washington, DC office
  • The role requires a hybrid/onsite work schedule

Desired Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in human resources or related field
  • SPHR or PHR designation
  • Human resources experience preferably in a law firm or other professional services environment
  • Working knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce
  • Knowledge of viDesktop performance management software
  • Demonstrated research skills and knowledge of legal and business databases and other research sources
  • Well-developed and sophisticated organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to relate to and gain the confidence of people at all levels within an organization
  • Ability to build strong relationships and work in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate needs to HR leadership and HR team
  • Ability to communicate HR implications to firm management and influence decisions
