Job Summary
Lead end-to-end systems engineering activities for new product development programs, maintaining ownership of system functionality throughout the development lifecycle. Collaborate with clinical, service, manufacturing, product management, regulatory, and engineering teams to elicit high-quality system requirements and translate user needs into detailed, traceable specifications. Drive system architecture, functional decomposition, and interface definition across complex hardware and software subsystems while identifying and mitigating technical risks. Perform system-level analyses, including safety risk assessments, to support compliance with medical device regulations. Lead system integration activities across globally distributed teams and define verification and validation strategies to ensure products meet customer and regulatory expectations. This role requires 8+ years of engineering experience and 5+ years in systems engineering, with a focus on medical imaging systems and highly regulated industries.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Systems Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
- 8+ years of engineering experience developing complex hardware and software products.
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, product analysis, requirements engineering, or system architecture.
- Strong background in complex system integration involving both hardware and software.
- Experience defining, managing, and tracing system requirements throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of clinical diagnostic imaging workflows and healthcare environments is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience collaborating across global engineering organizations.
- Self-motivated team player who is equally comfortable working independently and leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative product development environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on an occasional basis (less than 5%).
- A successful candidate must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance with US export control law.
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in an engineering or technical discipline.
- Experience with diagnostic imaging systems (CT, MR, PET, SPECT, X-ray, Ultrasound) or other complex medical devices.
- Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE), SysML, or similar systems engineering tools.
- Experience supporting regulatory submissions or product commercialization efforts.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and systems engineering best practices.
