Job Summary
Senior Supplier Quality Engineer for special processes owning the supplier quality gate from New Product Introduction through steady-state production. Serves as the SQE subject matter expert on special processes, partnering with Design Engineering, Materials & Process, and Supply Chain to embed quality into the supply chain from the start. Key duties include control plan development, PPAP review/approval, and Cp/Cpk studies; issuing and closing SCARs with 8D methodology; reviewing deviations; conducting supplier process audits/site visits; managing incoming inspection disposition and NCRs; maintaining SPC and control plans; and advising on qualification approaches and deviation disposition. The ideal candidate has launched complex components into volume production, deep GD&T expertise per ANSI Y14.5, knowledge of CMM/laser scanning, experience with multiple special processes (e.g., welding, coating, heat treatment, electronics/PCBA, etc.), ISO 9001/AS9100/IATF 16949 awareness, and demonstrated cross-functional collaboration. Travel of 25–50% (including international travel) is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Materials Engineering, or a related technical field
- Minimum 7–10 years of Supplier Quality Engineering experience
- Proven experience as a quality decision-maker on PPAP approvals, deviation dispositions, and Supplier Corrective Action Report (SCAR) closure for complex components or assemblies
- Experience coaching or mentoring less experienced quality engineers
- Deep working knowledge of at least two special processes (welding, coating, heat treatment, brazing, NDT, or electronics/PCBA) at the level of auditing supplier process controls
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 or IATF 16949 quality management system requirements
- Ability to travel 25–50%, including international travel to APAC suppliers
- Strong GD&T knowledge per ANSI Y14.5, interpretation of manufacturing drawings, and disposition decisions
- Experience with PPAP, SPC, CAPA, control plans, and process validation (Cp/Cpk)
- Experience coordinating with Design Engineering, Materials & Process, and Supply Chain to drive quality outcomes
- Experience conducting supplier process audits and site visits
- Experience in incoming inspection disposition and NCR management
- CMM and laser scanning knowledge would be beneficial
- Quality engineering leadership or mentoring responsibilities
