Staff Software Engineer, Trade Order Management

Job Summary
Contribute technical expertise and design input to the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design reviews through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. Build, enhance, and maintain robust, scalable applications powered by AWS and modern backend technologies while troubleshooting production issues and investigating root causes for critical trading workflows. Partner with internal teams to resolve incidents, improve system reliability, and coach fellow engineers on delivering secure, high-performing enterprise applications. This Staff Software Engineer role on the Trading Team requires 8+ years of experience, including 6+ years in Java or Kotlin, with a focus on cloud-native development and buy-side order management systems.
Required Qualifications
- You must be permitted to work in Ireland, including under EU work authorization, without the need for employer sponsorship
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or equivalent
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including designing, building, and supporting production applications
- Experience applying design patterns, OOAD and SOLID principles, and writing automated unit tests
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, analyze root causes, and drive issues through resolution
- Ability to balance short-term issue resolution and deliverables with a longer-term architectural perspective
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and support-oriented activities
Desired Qualifications
- 6+ years experience in Java or Kotlin preferred, or equivalent experience in a modern backend language
- Building and supporting cloud-native applications, preferably in AWS
- Some knowledge of web front-end technologies such as React, JavaScript, and TypeScript, along with a willingness to contribute across the stack
- Positive attitude and genuine interest in contributing to a team that works hard, supports one another, and has fun at work
- Experience engineering in buy-side order management systems
- Working knowledge of complex financial instruments and their valuations
- Background in mathematics
- Experience with FIX and/or SWIFT protocols
