Job Summary
Staff Software Engineer needed to develop cloud-native, serverless applications on AWS. Responsibilities include writing code and developing software based on requirements, analyzing user needs, performing rigorous testing (unit, integration), collaborating with product, design, and QA teams, updating and maintaining applications, and documenting development processes. The role emphasizes building secure software from the start with least privilege, taking ownership of quality and delivery, creating automated tests, and identifying improvements in processes and code. Required skills include 5+ years of professional development experience; AWS services (CloudFront, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, VPC, API Gateway); Node.js/TypeScript (and/or Python/Angular); building HTTP-based APIs; experience with Jest or Karma; troubleshooting distributed systems; observability; Azure DevOps pipelines; Git; and strong collaboration across cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Experience in AWS including CloudFront, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, VPC, API Gateway
- Proficiency in Node.js and/or TypeScript; Python and Angular and/or general web development experience
- Experience building HTTP-based APIs
- Experience with testing tools such as Jest or Karma; unit and integration testing
- Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems and implement observability
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps build and deployment pipelines
- Knowledge of Git for source control
- Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams (product, design, QA, architecture)
- Ability to design, implement, and deliver secure software using least privilege principles
- Experience documenting software development processes (code docs, user manuals, technical specs)
- Experience contributing to the full software development lifecycle and delivering on a regular cadence
