Job Summary
Join the Scale Team at Airwallex as a Staff Software Engineer, where you will build and maintain the multi-tenant infrastructure powering financial services for global businesses. You will own cross-domain product features, create solutions architecture for enterprise prospects, and lead technical initiatives that directly influence high-value deals. Successful candidates will have extensive software engineering experience, especially in Java/Spring Boot, and the ability to communicate effectively across diverse stakeholders while designing for scalability and maintainability.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience in Java/Spring Boot
- Excellent abstraction skills in system/component design
- Clean communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Pragmatic decision-making balancing optimization for performance vs. velocity
- Ability to thrive in cross-functional environments spanning Product, Design, Compliance, and Sales
- Designing for scale, maintainability, and production excellence
- Leading multi-team initiatives with measurable impact
Desired Qualifications
- Fintech, payments, or regulated industry experience
- High-scale performance tuning (100k+ QPS, large user bases, strict latency SLAs)
- Multi-tenant SaaS or platform architecture background
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, or cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Experience with OAuth2.0, API design, or developer documentation
- Cross-region deployment or data residency compliance experience
- Solutions engineering or customer-facing technical experience
