Job Summary
Staff Software Engineer to own the technical strategy and roadmap for Pura's end-to-end supply chain platform (order management, inventory allocation, warehouse integration, shipment tracking). Domain leadership role responsible for architecture, technical direction, and health of systems within the domain; collaborate with business stakeholders and executives, lead a small high-impact engineering team, and raise the technical bar through design leadership, hands-on coding, and mentorship. Emphasis on translating business needs into technical decisions and communicating tradeoffs to non-engineers; work across cross-functional teams in a fast-growing, fragrance-tech company.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years in backend engineering with leadership
- Expert-level Golang and/or Node/Python
- Experience designing high-scale distributed systems
- SOA/API strategy/event-driven architectures at scale
- AWS with containers (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD, IaC
- PostgreSQL (preferred) and Redis caching; data modeling at scale
- Observability, monitoring, and operational excellence
- Strong communication; mentoring senior engineers
Desired Qualifications
- 10+ years of backend engineering with track record of technical leadership
- Expert-level proficiency in Golang and/or Node/Python
- Deep expertise designing and operating high-scale distributed systems
- Strong command of service-oriented architecture, API strategy, and event-driven architectures at scale
- Expert-level AWS knowledge including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
- Deep expertise in relational database design/optimization (PostgreSQL preferred), caching (Redis), and data modeling for scale
- Proven track record establishing observability, monitoring, and operational excellence standards
- Exceptional communication skills for translating complex technical tradeoffs to business/executive audiences
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and operating as a technical force multiplier
- Nice to have: experience architecting distributed order management systems, knowledge of supply chain/logistics integrations, experience with temporal data modeling and event sourcing, background in e-commerce or consumer products
- Experience driving cross-functional platform migrations or re-architecture programs
