Job Summary
Senior Staff Software Engineer – Lending Foundations responsible for owning the architectural direction of the Lending Foundations platform across multiple geographies. Define and evolve platform architecture that underpins lending products across countries, products, and partners; design and scale shared platform capabilities and core services; lead cross-team architectural initiatives and drive alignment on hard technical choices. Evolve event-oriented architectures (CQRS, event-driven patterns) for global, regulated contexts; partner with product and business leadership to translate expansion goals into platform roadmaps with measurable impact; mentor senior engineers and raise engineering standards through reviews and guidance. Experience with distributed systems, platform-layer ownership, JVM/functional stacks, and the ability to influence decisions at multiple levels is required. Nice-to-have experience in lending/financial services platforms, multi-country/global product environments, migration/re-platforming initiatives, and familiarity with technologies such as Clojure, Datomic, Kafka. Location options include Toronto, Brazil hubs (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Campinas, Belo Horizonte); hybrid work model (2–3 days per week in the office). Relocation assistance may be available based on location.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience as a senior / staff-level engineer designing and evolving complex distributed systems or platform layers
- Deep experience with event-oriented architectures (e.g., CQRS, event sourcing, streaming)
- Strong background in at least one functional or JVM-based stack
- Proven track record owning architectural vision for large domains or platforms
- Demonstrated ability to drive alignment on hard architectural decisions across multiple squads and stakeholders
- Experience acting as a platform-oriented engineer with internal customers (engineering/product teams) as primary focus
- Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to varied audiences
