Job Summary
Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure backend systems powering Noom's apps and services. Evolve core platform services including configuration, entitlements, and shared data platforms while driving adoption of agentic backend development practices. Set architectural vision for the core platform to ensure alignment with engineering standards and long-term product scalability. Work cross-functionally with technical leaders to solve complex technical problems and leverage AI-driven tools to enhance team velocity. Actively contribute 50% to codebases, 25% to architectural planning, and 25% to technical leadership and mentorship. This Staff Software Engineer role focuses on building the technical foundation for Noom's high-growth digital health platform.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience operating at the Staff-level or equivalent in backend engineering roles
- at least 8–10+ years of experience
- Backend platform experience at large-scale D2C or B2B2C companies
- building for internal engineering audiences
- Familiarity with distributed systems that operate large-scale, high-volume platforms
- Deep proficiency in Java or Kotlin
- experience with the Spring framework
- Familiarity with relational databases
- experience with cloud infrastructure
- AWS preferred
- strong experience with at least one major cloud provider required
- Demonstrated success in architecting scalable, fault-tolerant integrations with external systems
- Strong leadership skills
- the ability to influence teams across an engineering function
