Staff Software Engineer

Staff Software Engineer to join the Explorer Team and drive the technical future of a data-visualization product that supports political-data exploration. Responsibilities include taking a pilot implementation to general availability, designing scalable and secure backend services and user interfaces, expanding an evolving codebase, producing high-quality documentation, and contributing as a staff engineer across multiple projects. The role emphasizes establishing engineering patterns, operational foundations, testing strategies, and reducing technical debt while mentoring senior engineers, leading technical discussions, and aligning with division goals. The candidate should bring deep technical depth, experience with event-driven architectures, OLAP/OLTP reasoning, and a track record of delivering production-grade software in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. This is a fully remote role open to candidates anywhere in the United States, requiring 10+ years of experience, strong leadership, and a proven ability to drive secure coding practices, data privacy, and scalable architectures.
