Job Summary

Staff Software Engineer- Localization (GLP Team) in Bangalore leads architecture and implementation of the Global Localization Platform. The role focuses on building scalable, distributed backend and frontend systems powering localization and translation workflows across Warner Bros. Discovery products, providing technical leadership for services, API design, and deployment strategies, while mentoring engineers, driving CI/CD and observability practices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align platform strategy with business goals.

Required Qualifications

  • 9-13 years of hands-on software development experience
  • Deep proficiency in backend technologies (Node.js, Python, Java) and frontend frameworks (React, TypeScript)
  • Strong experience with AWS services including Serverless, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, Step Functions, CloudWatch
  • Experience building and deploying microservices using Docker, Kubernetes; CI/CD pipelines; infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or CloudFormation) is a strong plus
  • Experience with datastores such as RDS/PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis and Elasticsearch; knowledge of vectorization for fulltext search
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka/MKS) and low-latency protocols (gRPC)
  • Understanding of API lifecycle management, versioning and service governance across large distributed environments
  • Prior localization/workflow experience, ICU standard, TMS integration and content internationalization is a strong advantage
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers at various levels, influence architectural direction and contribute to cross-team initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to document and present technical solutions clearly
  • Track record of improving systems through refactoring, automation and simplification
  • Experience with backend (Java, Node.js) and frontend (React, TypeScript); capable across full stack when needed
  • Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, CloudWatch, Kibana) and proactive incident response
  • Experience leading architecture and design for distributed systems in production environments
