Job Summary
Staff Software Engineer (L4) - Email Platform at Twilio Sendgrid helping to design, build, and operate highly available, scalable distributed systems for email at massive scale. Responsibilities include building and operating services in a distributed production environment used by millions of customers, collaborating across teams to solve complex distributed computing problems, mentoring junior engineers, communicating with executives and stakeholders, and continuously improving systems with an emphasis on reliability, monitoring, performance, capacity planning, security, and reducing tech debt while delivering new features. Required qualifications include 8+ years of distributed systems experience, strong Golang/Java skills, proven service ownership, and a CS degree or equivalent experience; desired qualifications include container/Kubernetes experience, Kafka data pipelines, MySQL/AWS Aurora, and cloud platform proficiency (AWS/GCP/Azure). Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant experience building highly available, scalable, fault tolerant and maintainable distributed systems
- Strong experience with Golang, Java, or similar technologies
- Demonstrated track record in service ownership
- Operational excellence focused mindset: monitoring with metrics and alerting
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Strong technical and leadership chops - led technical decisions for teams and initiatives
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
