Staff Software Engineer (JAVA)

Job Summary
Design and develop highly scalable, resilient backend services in Java for a cloud-native, microservices-based platform supporting real-time pricing and revenue operations. Build distributed system capabilities using Cassandra, Redis, and Azure to deliver high-throughput solutions, while collaborating with architects and product teams to define system functionality and align implementations with industry best practices. Contribute to backend architecture decisions, conduct technical research to solve complex problems, and provide mentorship to junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing. Develop comprehensive tests to ensure end-to-end quality and maintain technical documentation to support operational reliability and continuous improvement across the platform.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience developing large-scale, complex applications with Java
- Strong expertise in backend development, including multi-threading, messaging, streaming, performance optimization, and horizontal scalability
- Solid experience building REST APIs and backend services
- Hands-on experience with Cassandra and other NoSQL databases
- Strong knowledge of Redis, including caching and stream-based workflows
- Experience with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven design
- Solid understanding of OOP, design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean architecture
- Awareness of algorithmic complexity and Java data structures
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
- Experience with BDD/TDD practices
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar
- Working knowledge of Git, Jira, and Confluence
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- A proactive mindset and willingness to learn and work across backend technologies
- University degree in Computer Science or a related field
Desired Qualifications
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to improve productivity, code quality, or development workflows
- Experience with Java 21 and/or Dropwizard
- Familiarity with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch
- Experience with Azure Service Bus, Redis Streams, or similar messaging technologies
- Experience with AKS, Helm, or other Azure deployment tooling
