Job Summary
Staff Software Engineer – Integrations leads the architectural direction for backend integration systems that connect Pivotal Health’s platform to external systems (EHRs, billing, data feeds, partner APIs). You’ll own production backend systems, shape integration patterns for healthcare data, handle messy real-world data formats, and guide the team through design reviews and end-to-end ownership. You’ll engage in problem discovery with product, customers, and partners to translate insights into executable plans, establish patterns for reliability and maintainability, and mentor engineers. The role emphasizes high autonomy, technical judgment in ambiguous environments, and collaboration across product, data, platform, and DevOps to ensure secure, well-instrumented integrations. Extra credit if you have healthcare integration experience (EDI, HL7/FHIR, ICD-10/CPT), SFTP pipelines, Python in production, or experience in data-intensive regulated industries. The role is based in core hubs (Los Angeles and New York) with openness to exceptional talent outside those regions; remote and hybrid flexibility varies by role and team.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus
- Track record of owning architectural decisions on complex, production systems
- Ability to operate with high autonomy in ambiguous, greenfield environments
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to lead through influence and execution
- Experience in customer/problem discovery and translating requirements into technical plans
