Job Summary
Staff Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain cloud-native, highly scalable search solutions on top of customers' evolving infrastructure. Focus on building the data ingestion, storage, and retrieval services that power the data ecosystem, not just querying. Responsibilities include architecture and implementation of features across a distributed microservices platform, leadership and mentorship of peers, collaboration with product managers and designers, and ongoing innovation of the cloud architecture. Requires 8+ years of enterprise software experience, strong background in Java or Kotlin, Kubernetes-based microservices, database performance tuning, schema design, and query optimization, plus experience coaching junior staff and working in Agile teams. The role emphasizes building reliable infrastructure and services for data ingestion, storage, and retrieval at scale and participating in ongoing learning and cross-team collaboration. It is remote-friendly in the US.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years software development experience
- Experience in Database performance tuning, schema design, query optimization in distributed microservice architecture
- Experience in software development in distributed microservice architecture
- B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Experience developing in Java or Kotlin
- Experience with containerized microservices in Kubernetes
- Experience developing core libraries, infrastructure, and search engines
- Experience coaching and leading mid-level and junior staff
- Experience in Agile teams
- Ability to work independently and in a team, lead/drive projects
- Experience with operational datastores, Kafka or similar
- Willingness to learn new technologies
